  • Auto accident & personal injury (PIP)
  • Workers' compensation
  • HSA/FSA & transparent self-pay rates

Hurt in a crash? Your Oregon PIP covers your treatment no matter who was at fault, and a PIP claim isn't treated as an at-fault claim against you — here's how auto injury billing works.

Common Questions

Good to know before you come in

Are you accepting new patients?

Yes — we're always happy to welcome new patients. Request an appointment online or call us at (503) 653-2232.

Do I need a referral?

No referral needed — you can book directly with us. If your insurance plan has specific requirements, we'll help you sort them out.

How soon could I be seen?

We do our best to see new patients as soon as possible — often within the same week. Call us and we'll find the earliest opening that works for you.

Do you accept my insurance?

We accept most major medical insurance and handle the billing for you — including auto-accident (PIP) and workers'-compensation claims. Not sure if you're covered? Call us and we'll verify your benefits for free.

If I use my auto insurance (PIP) after an accident, will my rates go up?

Using PIP isn't an at-fault claim. Oregon requires Personal Injury Protection on every auto policy, and it pays for your treatment regardless of who caused the crash. Because PIP benefits are paid on a no-fault basis, a PIP claim isn't treated as an at-fault claim against you — and it's coverage you already pay for. Your agent can confirm how your policy handles claims. Your own limits and terms are set by your policy; your insurer or agent can confirm the specifics, and we'll review your benefits with you at no charge. More on auto injury care →

How much does Oregon PIP cover, and how long do I have to use it?

Every Oregon auto policy carries at least $15,000 in PIP medical benefits per person, available for reasonable and necessary treatment within two years of the accident. PIP also covers 70% of lost wages up to $3,000 a month if your injuries keep you from working for 14 consecutive days or more. Many drivers carry higher limits than the minimum — bring us your claim number and we'll check yours.

I was in a car accident. What do I need to bring?

Your insurance card, your PIP claim number if you've already opened one (just call your auto insurer and tell them you were in a collision), your attorney's contact information if you have one, and any imaging you've already had. If you don't have a claim number yet, come in anyway — we'll help you get it started.

What if I don't have insurance?

No problem. We offer transparent, affordable self-pay rates and will walk you through your options before any care begins.

How much will this cost me?

Your cost depends on your insurance and the care you need. We're upfront about pricing before you commit, verify your benefits for free, and offer affordable self-pay rates if you're uninsured. Call us for an estimate.

Does Dr. Fred treat my type of issue or injury?

Dr. Fred cares for a wide range of concerns — back and neck pain, sciatica, auto-accident and work injuries, and general wellness. If you're not sure we're the right fit, call us; we'll give you an honest answer and point you in the right direction if we're not.

Do I have to be adjusted, or can we just discuss my options first?

You're always in control. Your first visit is a consultation and exam — we'll talk through what's going on and your options, and we never adjust you without your consent. Many patients start with a conversation and a plan.

Is the first adjustment painful?

Most patients feel relief, not pain. Dr. Fred uses gentle techniques and adapts his approach to your comfort level — you're in control the entire time.

Does Dr. Fred use an instrument or activator (a "clicker")?

Dr. Fred offers a range of techniques and can use gentle, low-force instrument adjusting — such as an Activator — for patients who prefer a lighter touch or aren't comfortable with manual adjustments. Let us know your preference and we'll tailor your care.

Does Dr. Fred use a drop table?

Yes — our office uses a drop-piece table, which adds a gentle, controlled assist to certain adjustments. Dr. Fred will choose the technique that best fits your body and comfort.

What chiropractic technique or methodology does Dr. Fred follow?

Dr. Fred practices evidence-based, whole-person chiropractic — combining hands-on adjustments with gentler, low-force methods and modern rehabilitation, tailored to each patient rather than a one-size-fits-all technique.

How long is a typical appointment?

Your first visit (consultation and exam) usually takes about 45–60 minutes. Follow-up visits are typically shorter — often around 15–20 minutes.

Can you get a copy of my imaging (X-rays or MRI)?

Yes. If you've had X-rays, an MRI, or other imaging, we can help you obtain copies and will review them as part of your care. Bring them along if you already have them.

Can you get my records from my previous chiropractor?

Yes — with your written authorization, we can request your records from a previous provider. Just let us know and we'll send you a simple release form.

What should I wear?

Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing you can move in is ideal. Avoid restrictive belts or heavy jewelry if you can.

How many visits will I need?

It depends on your condition and goals. After your exam, Dr. Fred will give you an honest estimate — we never lock you into long, unnecessary packages.
